How Many New Lives Begin Here 🚢😢
During my five - day trip to Halifax, the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 left the deepest impression on me. 🤷😕 🌸The seemingly tranquil harbor was once the landing point for millions of immigrants coming to North America. According to the guide, about one in every five Canadians has a story connected to this place. As a major port on Canada's Atlantic coast, most immigrants who crossed the ocean used to enter Canada through Halifax and then take trains to various parts of the country. 🌸🐾 The people who came here had different backgrounds. Some had escaped from long - term unstable environments, while others left behind a stable life to start anew. After enduring weeks of a grueling voyage, the immigrants finally set foot on this unfamiliar land and waited for hours at the port. 🤩🌟 🌸The exhibition hall isn't large, but it fully recreates the authentic scenes of that time: the cabin environment, the interview rooms, luggage inspections, the canteen... It wasn't until they boarded the train that they got their first glimpse of the scenery of this brand - new country through the train windows. At that moment, they had no idea what awaited them in the distance. 🤪👻 Despite the numerous challenges posed by systems and distances, this place was still where countless dreams began 🌈. For us, a sense of belonging is something we take for granted, but they had to spend countless days and nights and make many sacrifices to earn it. 🌸In today's technologically advanced world, the cost of saying goodbye is no longer exorbitant, but it still means letting go of the past and moving towards a new beginning. Whether studying abroad or making a living overseas, leaving home isn't because we don't miss it, but because life has to move forward. Where is home? Perhaps where the heart finds peace is home 🏡. #Canada #CanadianMuseumofImmigration #halifax 🎉🌍
