I Believe the Best Cantonese Cuisine in New York Is Congee Village (2)

🌺Pork, Beef, Lamb, and Poultry Red Wine Crispy Beef Ribs: The meat is a bit tough but could use more flavor. The sauce is rich and flavorful. 🍃 Claypot Chicken: Sizzling hot out of the pot and gone in a flash. 🌇Satay Beef with Glass Noodles Claypot: The marinated beef is tender and filling. White Radish Beef Brisket Claypot: My absolute favorite! The beef brisket, tendon, and tripe are all flavorful, and the radish is perfectly cooked. Even after waiting for nearly half an hour, one bite of the hot, freshly cooked dish makes it all worth it. 🌊 Main Courses 🌸Yangzhou Fried Rice: Each grain is distinct and infused with the aroma of eggs. Stir-Fried Beef River Noodles: Authentic and nostalgic—each bite reminds me of home. 🎢 Vegetables Mushroom and Bean Sprouts Stir-Fry: A crowd-pleaser, fresh and tender. Their vegetables are mostly prepared with garlic, fermented bean curd, stir-fried, or scallion. Once, at the Flushing location, I was gifted a custard tart and mung bean dessert at checkout, which really boosted my appreciation! 🌟 🌇 From the market-priced seafood, it’s clear that they value freshness. They emphasize using real ingredients and generous portions, so you won’t leave hungry. If you’re unsure what to order, the menu with pictures is a safe bet! 🌊 If there’s a minor drawback, it’s that to cater to local tastes, the chef uses ingredients like broccoli and lettuce as accompaniments for meat and stir-fries (for example, the black pepper scallops come with broccoli), which isn’t very traditional Cantonese. However, the flavors and wok hei of the majority of dishes are incredibly authentic. 🌟 In a nutshell: This old-school restaurant offers a wide variety of down-to-earth, high-quality Cantonese dishes.
