I crossed Sri Lanka and came to Trincomalee ⛵️
Before coming to Ceylon, I hurriedly did a lot of research.❄️ 💕💕Figuring out how to get from Negombo to Trincomalee probably took up a quarter of my time. Train? Bus? Public transport?🚖🚖 Too many guides are from three or even five years ago.🚖 In the end, I chose an overnight bus from Colombo to Trincomalee.🍉 🌙Superline’s air-conditioned buses release tickets two days in advance. You can log onto their official website to select seats and buy tickets according to departure times.🌼🌼 It departs from Wellawatta at 10:00 PM,⛅⛅ passes through Colombo’s Bastian Mawatha Bus Station— it was supposed to arrive around 10:30 PM, but actually got there at 22:45.🌙 It reached Trincomalee at around 5 AM the next day, pitch-black outside. After taking a tuk-tuk to the homestay, I saw the sky glowing red in the distance.⚡ 🥔Unable to contain my excitement, I checked in, dropped my luggage, and rushed to the beach. It was the sunrise you imagine, the peace and quiet you look forward to. Crows filled the sky, circling and cawing one after another😊😊 🐟Fishing boats returned from the catch, docking one after another. People haggled and chatted lively on the beach. A day full of expectations started here 🌄 ☑️ The Shiva Temple is connected to Fort Frederic. You can visit both without a ticket.🎫 You need to take off your shoes to enter the Shiva Temple and wear long pants or a long skirt. Remember to wear socks because the stony ground is really scorching 😹 ☑️ I specifically went to Uppuveli Beach following recommendations.😘😘 There are many diving shops and restaurants along that stretch. Every diving shop offers whale-watching tours, priced around 30-40 USD.🎉🎉 Some shops let you bargain—like me, I got it down to 5 USD per person.🛶 Usually, the trip lasts 2-3 hours before returning. ☑️ Dolphins are almost guaranteed to be seen every day; whale-watching really depends on luck. 🌴We only saw a whale surface briefly at the very end before it sank back down. It was gone before I could react—felt both lucky and regretful. ☑️ Highly recommend a restaurant by Uppuveli Beach: Café on the 18th 🍹 The vibe is amazing—chill during the day, lively at night. There’s something for everyone.🍒 ☑️ The homestay I booked this time is also worth recommending. It’s a 2-minute walk from the beach—so close it’s easy to forget. The room isn’t big, but the host and hostess are very friendly.💞💞 Their cats and dogs live a charmed life. The breakfast is great—varied and easy to enjoy. 🏨 Hotel Tobiko 💰 255 RMB/night (varies by season)☀️ #SceneryOnTheJourney #Vacation #Travel #LovingLifeInOrdinaryDays #SriLanka #SriLankaTravel #Trincomalee #SriLankaTourism #WhaleWatching
