I Mentally Prepared to Get Robbed in London… But Then This Happened

Before my trip, I went online for travel tips—only to find endless horror stories about muggings, phone thefts, discrimination, and fights with teenagers! 😨 I was so terrified that I made myself a promise: never, ever take out my phone on the streets or the Tube! 📵 I landed in London with my heart pounding—fully expecting the worst. ✈️ What I expected: Don’t use your phone on the metro—it’ll get snatched 😬 Locals are cold and unhelpful 😒 Pickpockets are waiting everywhere 👀 What I actually found: People scrolling freely on phones—even underground! 📱 Someone offered me their seat because I had luggage 🥹 So much kindness—yes, there are thieves, but it’s NOT like the internet says! 🤗 Expected: A total food desert 🍽️ Reality: My hotel was surrounded by restaurants! I tried two meat floss buns—SO yummy! 😋 Why do people say there’s no good food? You can find everything here! 🥨🍔🍜 Expected: A fashion wasteland—nowhere to shop 👗 Reality: Adorable boutiques with Japanese and Korean styles everywhere! 🛍️ Liberty now has Sézane—I got to try on clothes I used to only buy online! 💃 Boden, Barbour, Emma Bridgewater—I was in heaven! 😍 Harrods is a dream—designer clothes everywhere, try anything you like! ✨ The food hall downstairs looked incredible—my stomach was growling! 🧁🍫 My friend from Norway brought two empty suitcases just to shop brands only available here! 🧳🧳 Expected: Discrimination and rude people 🫤 Reality: Someone offered me a seat on the Tube—I was so touched! 🥲 Restaurant staff were smiling and incredibly kind—British service is amazing! 🤩 Zero discrimination—instead, strangers joked with me! 😄 Once at a supermarket, I was buying tons of greeting cards 📇 The cashier said: “That’s a lot of cards!” I said: “I’m a proper tourist—I love British designs!” 🎀 We had a warm, funny chat—everyone was so lovely! 💬❤️ I came braced for robbery, violence, and theft—but found a city full of warmth and kindness instead. 🤲✨ Totally in love with this stylish, tasteful, and big-hearted city. 💗 #UK #London #Travel#LondonLove #ExpectationVsReality#TravelSurprises #KindnessWins #LondonDiaries
