I spent two days in Germany's most beautiful small town 🏰

Heidelberg—in my opinion, this charming German town is the most worth-visiting spot on the classic five-country tour loop (France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria). It offers stunning scenery and a rich historical atmosphere, with the entire town filled with well-preserved ancient architecture. ☎️ SIM Card: A Europe-wide travel data card works across the Schengen area. I bought mine in advance on Taobao. 🪪 Visa: Schengen visa (covers most European countries). Below are my itinerary and expenses: 1️⃣ Day 1: I bought a bus ticket at the machine right outside Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof (main station). A single trip costs €3.2💰. Since the city is very walkable, you only need a ticket to get into the city and another to return to the station. All other attractions can be reached on foot. Bismarckplatz Philosophenweg (Philosophers' Walk) Alte Brücke (Old Bridge) Lunch 🍔: You can grab a meal at McDonald’s near Bismarckplatz. A full meal costs between €10–15💰. Rumor has it that adding a Filet-O-Fish only costs €1–1.4! Dinner 🍖: I ate at a traditional German knuckle restaurant in the old town. A pork knuckle dish costs around €23.5💰. It was a bit salty, but still worth trying since it’s a local specialty. 2️⃣ Day 2: Heidelberg University Heiliggeistkirche (Church of the Holy Spirit) Heidelberg Castle Königstuhl (King’s Throne Hill) You can buy a combo ticket for the castle and Königstuhl for €16💰. It includes castle entry, the cable car up the mountain, and the mini-train to the summit. Lunch 🥪: Make sure to eat near Heidelberg University—there are plenty of restaurants around. Dinner 🍽️: You can return to the old town after coming down from the mountain. 💰 Total estimated expenses: Accommodation: ¥438 Two bus trips: €6.4 (3.2 × 2) Castle + Königstuhl ticket: €16 McDonald’s: €15 Drinks/water: €10 Pork knuckle (shared by 2): €11.75 (23.5 ÷ 2) Two other meals (avg. €20 per meal): €40 Total approx.: ¥1198 🗺️ For trip planning, I usually use “Circular Travel Tracker”. It’s free, easy to use for building itineraries, automatically adds attractions, calculates travel time and transport costs, and can even locate less-known B&Bs. It works smoothly both domestically and internationally. #EuropeTravel #Travel #GlobalTravel #Tourism #GermanyTravel #Heidelberg
