The Value Hot Dog is a Lifesaver for the Penny-Pincher One-sentence review: Keep indulging in local Icelandic delicacies, AKA hot dogs, and learned a new Icelandic word, pylsur 😋 💯 Personal rating out of 10: Taste: 8 points Ambiance: 7 points Value for money: 8 points Overall recommendation index: 8 points Hahaha, we probably ate out the most in Akureyri, otherwise, many times we would just go to our Airbnb and make instant noodles, or have a meal included at the hotel, or eat pre-made sandwiches on the trail while hiking. Anyway, this hot dog stand is a little gem, with not only a variety of choices on the menu but also good taste, and the price is around 10 bucks for a hot dog. One person can easily get full with two, which is way more cost-effective than going to a restaurant! (Crying, this might be the first time I’ve been so stingy with food while traveling.) And we also had a hot dog in the capital, which was just a regular bun + sausage, and it cost 7.5 bucks! How dare they! This place is a bit pricier, but so much tastier! 🧀 Blue Cheese Dog: This one is loaded with blue cheese, caramelized onions, and big chunks of walnuts that create a stringy texture! The blue cheese flavor isn’t too strong, and the sauce seems to have a touch of jam, giving it a slightly sweet taste. 🌋 Volcanic Dog: I’ve noticed, in Iceland, just use a black bun and you can market it as a volcanic-themed food~ It also has fried onion bits, Sriracha sauce, and Jalapenos, quite spicy. In summary: The hot dogs here are pretty awesome and quite affordable! #FoodExploration #IcelandicCuisine #IcelandLife #Iceland #IcelandFoodExploration #FoodDiary #ExplorationDiary #MyFoodJournal #Travel #EatDrinkAndBeMerry #IcelandTravel
