We got 4 different kinds of hot dogs: a regular with fried onions, and deep fried hot dogs with cheese and a) Doritos (top of pic, great with that extra crunch the chips give) b) peppers (paprika) and garlic sauce (middle of pic, super yummy but a little messy – tough to eat while driving but totally worth it!) and c) french fries (bottom of pic, awesome yummy combo). Everything was delicious and we only wish we'd ordered more. The hot dogs themselves are very tasty (and if you're worried about it tasting gamey like lamb, don't worry as they just taste like delicious regular hot dogs but better), especially with the crispy fried onions, but the sauces and toppings you get and the fun crisscut action you get with their deep fried offerings really take it to the next level. Great drive-through in the heart of Selfoss — perfect for a quick bite if you're doing a Golden Circle tour. Good amount of parking too if you want to pop by instead of driving through. There is some room to go in and enjoy your hot dog at a counter but it's really meant to be a pop in and out sort of deal. Highly recommended! EDIT: after tasting various other hot dogs around Reykjavik, we can confidently say Pylsuvagninn has the best ones! A must to try when in Iceland!

This really deserves somewhere between 7 and 10 stars, but google limits me to 5 unfortunately. We had a 1 day layover to/from our destination last year, and because of the incredible experience we had; Iceland was our destination this year. Pylsuvagninn has been a stop each time we have visited the country, and at times we've driven 30 minutes out of our way to grab a hot dog. My wife and I both love the hot dogs, but I'm particularly obsessed with the deep fried hot dog with cheese, Doritos, and garlic sauce. It's the only option I have tried, and it's so good I don't really care what else is on the menu. My wife has been equally impressed with her hot dog with everything on it. On our very last stop we got fries also, which were above average, but not the best I've had. I really cannot recommend stopping here enough, even if you have to drive out of your way.

I had a hot dog literally on every stop we took during out trip. The famous locations in Reykjavik, every gas station… I must say that for me, the hot dogs here win the first prize. I got one early on and near the end of our trip and it’s so delicious every time (the amount of sauce, fried onions was just perfect).

The service is also very good because you can tell the staff is happy while working. That makes me happy.

I guess the atmosphere wouldn’t be generally considered good as the space is small and what conventionally would look “depressing”, but I really liked it. The contrast of the happy workers against the gloomy setting made it feel like I was in a movie.

Almost forgot to mention: we also tried the fish and chips. They were okay but I regret getting them instead of...
