If the mountain won’t come to me, I’ll go to the mountain 🏔️

If the mountain won’t come to me, I’ll go to the mountain 🏔️ This Christmas, I finally made it to Alaska. It was so beautiful—like a snowy fairy tale world ❄️✨. Unfortunately, we caught the coldest wave of the season, with temperatures plunging below -40°C, forcing us to cancel some planned activities ❌. Yet even just driving along the highways felt magical. Every frame outside the window was like a scene from a movie—snow-blanketed forests, frozen lakes, distant snow-capped peaks faintly visible. Everything was so quiet, with only the sound of tires on snow and our own breathing. 🌌 New Year’s Eve Aurora: A Love Letter from the Sky On the night of December 31st, we chased the northern lights. Standing in the snow, we looked up as green ribbons of light swayed, swirled, and spread across the night sky like silk. In that moment, it was so romantic it left me speechless 🌠💚. We held hands, no one speaking, as if words might disturb this cosmic performance. ♨️❄️ A Song of Ice and Fire: Chena Hot Springs & Instant Ice At Chena Hot Springs, I truly experienced “winter above the neck, summer below.” Stepping outside with wet hair, it frosted over in seconds—like a real-life ice princess effect 🧊👸! We also tried throwing hot water into the air, watching it instantly turn into a shimmering ice mist that glittered in the sunlight. So much fun we couldn’t stop ✨💦. 🥞 At the Edge of the World, Eating Warm Jianbing Who knew you could find jianbing (Chinese savory crepes) in Alaska! Though made a little differently, that warm first bite brought me right back to life 😋❤️. Truly, good food is the best cure for travel fatigue. 🌄 One Regret: Driving Through the Most Beautiful Mountain Road at Night On the drive from Anchorage to Fairbanks, we’d heard about a stretch of road with breathtaking panoramic mountain views. But we started a bit too late, and by the time we reached that section, it was completely dark 🌙. Outside was only deep blue and black, the distant mountain outlines barely visible—their daytime majesty hidden from us. It became the biggest regret of the trip… and also my reason to return. Alaska was like a dream I never woke from. It was cold—truly cold—but also truly beautiful. If the mountain won’t come to me, I’ll go to the mountain. If the light won’t come to me, I’ll chase the light. See you on the road. 🏔️💫 #Alaska#NorthernLights#Fairbanks#Anchorage#ChenaHotSprings#TravelDiary#Frost#AuroraChasing#TravelMoments
