🍃Planning a trip to North Queensland? If you've got Port Douglas on your itinerary, aside from heading out to the Great Barrier Reef, you can also check out the following wildlife park. I discovered this gem on my last visit, and it's perfect for family outings. ☀️ Port Douglas Wildlife Habitat - Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas ▪️The park is divided into 5 different environments: woodland, wetland, rainforest, savanna, and nocturnal areas. There are walking trails and viewing platforms with plenty of great spots for photos~ Plus, there are many daily activities 📝 including various talks and interactive feeding experiences. 🚗 Transportation: A 10-minute drive from Port Douglas town center / a 1-hour drive from Cairns (right off the highway with ample parking and 2 charging stations). 🔥 Tips: The entrance ticket allows for unlimited entries over 5 consecutive days, which is very convenient. 👇 Visitor Strategy ✅ Kangaroo Feeding for Close Encounters Remember to buy some special food for feeding kangaroos 🦘 at the ticket office. After feeding in the area, kangaroos will come over, and you can take a group photo with them for some super cute shots 📷. ✅ Koala & Bird Breakfast Experience Highly recommend this experience! The breakfast is at Curlew Café, located in the koala habitat. While you're eating, you can see koalas dozing in the trees nearby. The main caretaker also brings a variety of colorful birds 🐦 for interaction and photos. Some will even perch on your shoulder, and they're quite well-behaved. The children at the next table were having a blast. The meal consists of appetizers, eggs 🍳, and some grilled specialty dishes. ✅ Swim with the Saltwater Crocodiles Apart from the Northern Territory, this is another place in Australia where you can swim with saltwater crocodiles! The entire experience lasts 45 minutes ⏰ including about 10 minutes in the water with the crocodiles. ✅ Photo with a Koala You can also take a photo with a koala here 🐨. The photo sessions are at 9:15 AM, 11:00 AM, and 1:00 PM daily. ✨ Precautions ▪️ Curlew Café is open from 9 am to 1 pm daily, and outside food is not allowed ❌ in the venue. ▪️ For the swim with the saltwater crocodile experience, bring a towel and swimsuit.
