If you could only have one fine dining meal during your trip to Brazil

My answer is Oro! Run by the young couple Chef Felipe Bronze and Sommelier Cecilia Aldaz, Oro is officially described as "Brazilian vanguard cuisine, cooked over fire." From my experience, their fire-based cooking truly stands out, infusing innovative twists into traditional Brazilian dishes while incorporating Japanese and Korean influences. The service is exceptional too—it’s the best English I’ve encountered in Brazil šŸ˜‚. They offer two tasting menus: Criatividade (R$690/US$140) and Afetividade (R$590/US$120). The difference? The latter has only two main courses. For a Michelin-starred experience, this is incredibly affordable. ✨ Snacks (11 dishes, highlights below): 🦪 Oyster and jaboticaba Plump oysters paired with a jaboticaba (Brazilian grape) sorbet—a magical combo of briny and fruity. šŸ¹ Scallops and caju amigos "Caju amigos" is a cocktail mixing cachaƧa and cashew juice. Here, they reinvent it by combining raw scallops with cashew elements for a bold, boozy twist. šŸ¦€ļø Casquinha de siri A classic Brazilian snack of crab meat and coconut milk, either fried or baked. Oro adds finger lime for a zesty, refreshing kick. ✨ Main Courses 🦐 Shrimp, pistachio and leek Tender, bouncy shrimp meets crisp leek and a coarse, nutty pistachio puree—layers of textures and flavors in every bite. 🐟 Fish and corn Seabass cooked to perfection—delicate and flaky—served with smoky grilled corn and a sweet, umami-rich mushroom-corn broth. 🄘 Mini rice, heart of palm and kimchi A fusion of kimchi fried rice and palm heart, though the kimchi leaned slightly too salty for my taste. 🄩 Beef, nuts and bone marrow Slow-cooked beef so tender it melts in your mouth, paired with a creamy cashew puree and bone marrow sauce. Crisp celery cubes add a fresh contrast. 🄄 Dessert All three desserts are playful, showcasing ingredients in icy forms. I chose Coconut: coconut crisps and ice cream atop chiffon cake, dotted with palm sugar and tangy coconut jelly. It’s a sweet, tropical dopamine rush! They also gifted a box of brigadeiros—Brazil’s iconic chocolate-truffle-like dessert made with condensed milk and butter. šŸ“ Address: Av. Gen.
