Indianapolis|MaMa's Korean Charcoal BBQ 🥩

Recently tried this Korean charcoal BBQ spot in Indy — Mama’s Korean Restaurant — and here’s my honest take! Since having authentic charcoal-grilled BBQ in Atlanta’s Koreatown years ago, I’ve rarely found real charcoal BBQ around here. Mama’s is located on the east side of Indy — easy to miss from the outside, and the interior feels a bit dated, but once we saw the charcoal fire, we knew it was the real deal. The banchan (side dishes) here are plentiful and delicious! 😋 We ordered: Mama’s Special Beef 🥩 (well-marinated, great quality, with that classic charcoal aroma — highly recommend!) BBQ Combination (pork was good, chicken was just okay) Tteokbokki (authentic flavor but a bit too firm — skip it) Bibimbap 🥢 (sauce and rice served separately — decent but not a must-order) We over-ordered for three people — so start with the Special Beef and add more only if needed! ⚠️ Heads-up: Their grill grate tends to stick if the heat is too high — especially with chicken. Beef held up better. You can move the meat to the edges if the center gets too hot. Overall, if you’re craving charcoal-grilled Korean BBQ, it’s worth a try. 📝 Note: They add an automatic 18% gratuity for BBQ orders. Some reviews complain that the service doesn’t justify the fee — so keep that in mind! Our total for three was around $200 (with tip), and we had leftovers. Maps rating: 4.2/5 ⭐ Go for the charcoal experience — but if value for money is your priority, you might want to explore other options. #Indianapolis #KoreanBBQ #CharcoalGrill #IndyEats #FoodReview #BBQLovers
