💕 Indulge in the Romantic Town of Óbidos 💕

🏰 Óbidos, Portugal 🏰 Located about 100 kilometers north of Lisbon, Óbidos is a small town surrounded by ancient walls that have been inhabited since 308 BC. In the 13th century, King Dinis I of Portugal gifted the town of Óbidos to his wife as a wedding present and also held their wedding here. This historical love story has added a touch of romance to the beautiful town, and many royal weddings have been held here since the new millennium. 🏰 Hilltop Town with Ancient Walls 🏰 Built on a hill, the town is encircled by walls. Wandering along the old and mottled walls, you can overlook the charming town views and feel the atmosphere of the medieval era. The castle in the town dates back to the period when the Moors occupied it, standing at the highest point of the town, built in the 12th century, and blending various architectural styles. It was once the royal palace of the Portuguese kings and since 1951, has become part of the Portuguese Pousadas (castle hotels). 🌈 Colorful and Cozy Houses 🌈 The town's unique feature is the houses surrounded by yellow and blue wall skirts, which are vibrant and romantically warm. The main entrance on the south side of the town is the city gate, which has a very beautiful blue tile pattern above it. The buildings are characterized by white walls and red tiles. 🛍️ Rua Direita - The Main Street 🛍️ Rua Direita is the main street of Óbidos and the liveliest street in town. The Santa Maria Church in front of the square was built between 1148-1185, where King Afonso V married his 8-year-old cousin here. The interior of the church is resplendent with gold, adorned with exquisite tiles. 💖 A Gift from King to Queen 💖 As a gift from the king to the queen, Óbidos has a natural medieval romantic atmosphere. White houses, orange-tiled roofs, blue wall skirts, walking along the narrow cobblestone paths of the town feels like walking in a fairy tale world, everything seems so peaceful and tranquil. #BeautifulScenery #LiveInScenery #AttractionRecommendation #Portugal #NoteInspiration #Obidos
