It has a big reputation and is always on the Michelin list and the World's 50 Best Restaurants list. But after eating here, I felt it was just average, really nothing special. After being disappointed by so many highly-rated restaurants, I once again think the World's 50 Best Restaurants list is kind of a joke.π»π»π» You can order Γ la carte or choose a tasting menu with 5/6/7 courses to mix and match. I went with the 6-course option.πππ The best thing I tried today was the tea-steamed egg custard, so I put it first. I think this dish is actually worth coming for... the mushroom flavor is really prominent. The complimentary sorbet before the meal was flavored with cowpeas... that was pretty weird.π»π»π» Another sweetbread dish... I've had sweetbread three times this week. This one was actually decent. It had a bit of a gamey taste, but the lemon sauce underneath really helped to cut through the richness and the gamey flavor. You have to mix them together to eat it.β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ The pork neck tortellini with red pepper sauce... after eating so much Western food in a row, I really crave Chinese food now. This looks too much like wontons... Actually, the Italian tortellini itself was good, but the sauce... it's neither spicy nor salty. It just feels off and lacks something.πππ The roasted wild turkey... this dish was just okay. Many bistros in Shanghai do a better job with this. The ricotta rice pudding with peaches π didn't bring out the sweetness of the peaches. There was too much ricotta, making the whole dessert very thick and rich.
