Iona Beach: A Challenging 8km Scenic Walk
Iona Beach, nestled in a quiet corner of Richmond, is a fantastic spot to enjoy breathtaking sunsets and observe seabirds in their natural habitat. 🌅🦆 The highlight here is an 8km round-trip causeway, which takes about two and a half hours to complete—perfect for those who love a good, long stroll with stunning views. On my previous visits, I only managed to walk less than half the distance. But today, I was determined to reach the very end of the dam. 🚶♂️💪 It’s funny how things look deceptively close—just like the saying goes, “The mountain looks nearer than it is.” What seemed like a short walk turned into a solid two-and-a-half-hour trek. Turns out, the sign at the entrance wasn’t exaggerating! 😅 Luckily, today’s low tide revealed vast stretches of exposed seabed, with the wet sand and distant horizon blending into dreamy watercolor-like scenery. 🎨🌊 It felt almost surreal, as if I’d stepped onto another planet! The 8km journey was anything but boring—every step offered something new to admire, and no two visits ever feel the same. If you love long walks with ever-changing views, this is the perfect route! 🌿✨ #VancouverLife #SeasideHiking #BeachViews #ExploreVancouver #WalkTheWorld #BeachVibes #StepOntoTheSand #RichmondBC #Richmond #VancouverWalks
