🍂 It’s persimmon picking time at the Bay Area farms!!

They’re huge and sweet. 🍁 I found out about the event online, a volunteer activity by Village Harvest. Most of them are in the South Bay, and there was also one near Palo Alto on December 1st recently. It’s a really great activity if it doesn’t rain! 🪵 The event lasts about 2-3 hours, and it’s actually not very tiring. Basically, they show you how to pick first, and then everyone scattered to pick, pick, pick. Once your bucket is full, someone helps you carry it. It’s very satisfying!! I picked near Gilroy, and it was mostly Fuyu persimmons. Even the really big ones are Fuyu, which you can eat directly – so delicious! The persimmon trees also barely have any bugs, so it’s bug-phobic friendly. The farm also has turkeys and peacocks, which is pretty fun, haha. 🍄‍🟫 The best part is you can eat them on the spot!! You can also take some home, as long as it’s not too outrageous. The persimmons we took home were almost ripe, super delicious!! 🍁 The event might fill up quickly, but when we went, about half of the people didn’t show up, so you can try sending an email last minute to ask if there’s space. #JoinThePiggyDoor #SmellsLikeOsmanthus #Persimmons #TheSeasonOfAbundantFruit #BayAreaWeekend #BayAreaFruitPicking #HappyMoments
