Japanese vs. American Brunch: A Tough Choice 🌟

🌟We’ve never used the term “best” before, mainly because we believe there’s always room for improvement. But this time, we’re making an exception. These two places are truly the best brunch spots we’ve had in years—flawless in every way! 🍳 📍 Japanese: Rule of Thirds, Brooklyn 📍 American: S&P Lunch, 22nd Street & 5th Avenue, Manhattan 🍃The Japanese spot has an incredibly beautiful ambiance! Just the Ravenhill lights alone are worth thousands. There’s also an event space next door that would be perfect for a wedding (though we still love our own wedding venue, hehe). Here are the highlights: Japanese Curry + Fried Chicken Cutlet 🌊 The fried chicken cutlet here is divine! You have to get it. Even those who usually avoid fried foods for health reasons end up sneaking a few extra pieces. The curry is packed with vegetables and served with delicious rice—famous. The curry itself isn’t as rich as our favorite Sukiyabashi (but their chicken cutlet is just okay). 🍖 Japanese Soufflé Pancake 🏙️ Light, fluffy, and sweet, these pancakes disappear in just a few bites. You’ll want another one for sure! They’re even better than Flipper’s. 🥧 Hot Honey Gem Salad + “Bacon” The “bacon” here is a must! It’s actually smoked fish (today we had smoked swordfish), which is incredibly tender. The portion is huge and incredibly fresh, definitely sourced from top-tier farms. 🥗 🌸 For dinner, they offer Japanese yakitori (duck hearts and 🐑tongue are particularly interesting). Their signature dish is the Buddhist Duck, served in three courses. The American spot doesn’t take reservations, so you have to get there early. After 11:30 AM on Fridays and 11 AM on weekends, the line stretches outside the door. It’s a classic diner with a long history. 🌟 American Pancakes OMG, these pancakes are my northern friend’s absolute favorite. They’re incredibly sweet, soft, and fluffy—way better than Clinton Street’s! 🥧 🎢 Bacon Sandwich 🌟A classic diner staple, done to perfection. 🥪 #NewYork #BrunchGoals 🌇
