The event is like a bar crawl, except with exciting literary events, talks, and more at each location. Lit Crawl is the grand finale to San Francisco’s annual literary festival, Litquake, which started earlier this month. The festival is in its **26th year**, and the crawl was added **over 20 years ago** in 2004. Throughout the festival, book lovers can attend exciting events exploring all things literature, including performances, talks, discussions with authors, poetry readings, and more. The festival is the work of Litquake, a local non-profit that has various programs throughout the year, including creative writing workshops for Bay Area seniors. Many of the events are free, including the Lit Crawl. The festival is in full swing, with numerous events planned each day until the crawl this **Saturday, October 25**. The Lit Crawl spans **over 25 locations**, with the first phase starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Many of the venues include popular bars in the Mission, such as Make-Out, Room, The Sycamore, Blondie’s Bar, and more. Phase two starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m., and finally, phase three begins at 8 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m., with each phase offering unique events. The fun will continue with an after-party from **9 to 11 p.m. at The Drawing Room**, complete with drinks. If you want to start your literary crawl earlier in the day, you can also join a pre-crawl tailgate from **3 to 4 p.m**. at Page Street Co-Working.
