Join Local Artists For A Free Gift-Making Workshop At SFMOMA This Week
While the SFMOMA is known for its expansive collection of beautiful and impressive modern art, the museum also regularly hosts creative workshops and community events. This week, the museum is hosting a special holiday workshop featuring local artists. The Gift Lab is a drop-in style workshop where five Bay Area artists will host craft stations to make handmade gifts. The workshop is this Thursday, December 4, from 4 to 8 pm , and coincides with the museumās free admission for Bay Area residents. If you are not a Bay Area resident, you can still attend the workshop by purchasing a museum ticket. Attendees can expect five local artists , including Bea Byrne, an Oakland-based artist who focuses on UV resin creations . Naomi Fierro PeƱa will be leading a charms workshop, while Judi Henderson will help create holiday crowns and headbands . Risa Iwasaki Culbertsonās workshop will focus on cards and prints . Finally, Piscola Mami will lead a workshop on air-dry clay ornaments. Each station is unique, with artists bringing their expertise to help participants create their gifts. The materials will be provided, and you can simply drop in on the workshop between 4 and 8 pm . This isnāt the only creative event at SFMOMA this month. The museum is also partnering with local arts nonprofit SCRAP to host a series of f free workshops on Sundays. The free workshops are from 10 am to 1 pm on select Sundays, each with a different focus. The workshops are drop-in style, and you can check them out on December 7, 14, and 21 .
