Joshua Tree | Mom Said: "Why Did You Go See Those Weird Trees?" 🌵😄

On the first day of the new year, I rewarded myself (who just learned how to drive) with a road trip to the national park with my bestie! 🚗💨 We planned to enter through the South Gate and exit via the West Gate – starting from Ktown, this route is the shortest round trip. You can navigate directly to the South Entrance Visitor Center, where you can grab a paper map and buy your pass – $30 per vehicle. 🗺️ The staff there are super helpful and can recommend must-see spots and trails! 1️⃣ Cholla Cactus Garden: This trail is currently under maintenance, but you can still stop by briefly for photos. 🌵📸 2️⃣ Heart Rock: Also a trail – we didn’t stop since we were short on time, but we saw lots of people climbing up the rocks. From afar, it looked like tiny figures covering the stones! 3️⃣ Keys View: A popular sunset spot, but the staff warned us that the road to Keys View closes at 3:30 PM. ⛔ 4️⃣ Hidden Valley: About 10 minutes past Hidden Valley, the staff recommended some amazing sunset viewpoints – way less crowded than Keys View! 🌅 A little adventure: When we reached the South Gate, we realized our car was almost out of gas... 😱 Luckily, a kind older gentleman came to our rescue and assured us we could still make it – but we had to refuel immediately! So we rushed to the nearest gas station. By the time we got back, it was already 3:30 PM... and sunset was at 4:45. We knew we couldn’t make it to Keys View in time, so we decided to just drive along, stopping whenever we felt like taking photos and continuing whenever we wanted – all while playing “All the Way North” on repeat! 🎶🚙 When I sent my mom photos later, she replied: “The sunset looks nice, but why did you go see those weird trees?” 🌲😆 Have you been to Joshua Tree?
