This is for the Joshua Tree National Park. We visited in the middle of April and the weather was perfect. The ranger staff was very helpful and all the park employees were courteous and cheerful. From Palm Springs and back we drove a total of 110 miles. The park is a long drive with a series of places to pull off the road and visit various sites as well as information all exhibits, which are roadside placards and very informational. The Flora and Fauna we're very interesting and the Joshua Tree forests you're beautiful. As you had South along Park Road and then East be sure to head south again to visit the ocotillo and chollo areas, they are quite a sight. We took a hike to find arch rock, but you might not attempt that as neither did we find it, nor did anyone else we asked. Like most national parks the further you hike out the fewer people you will encounter. If you are going to do some light walking along the trails tennis shoes are fine. Unless you're staying overnight in the park is a Backpacker this is a day trip where you will be driving getting out of the car and viewing things and then getting back in the car and driving again. Overall this was a very enjoyable experience and unique. One thing to note is that if you buy your tickets in advance at The Visitor Center then you don't have to wait when you get to the park entrance at the ranger station cuz there can be quite a backup of cars looking to purchase their tickets. The fee was $20 for our automobile and we bought a lifetime national park...

Read moreImpromptu trip to Joshua Tree NP? Yeah, we can do that. If you’re looking for detailed reviews, there are hundreds of better ones than this, but if you want a short day trip, here ya go:
Pick up food before entering the park. Something that packs well and is easy for you to pack out.
Bring more water than you need. It’s good to have on hand or offer to others if they didn’t bring enough.
There are plenty of hiking trails, spots to get lost (in a good way). Pick one and head out.
If you’re looking for a car tour of he park, try driving north to south (or vice versa). The non-stop drive will take ~3 hours. But hopefully you’re able to stay longer.
If you’re driving, please drive slowly. There are plenty of animals who share the road and are no match for your vehicle. Keep it wild.
Stop at a visitor center if it’s your first time, talk to a friendly ranger and ask them what’s the best place for you and your family/friends to do. Rangers know the best spots and can help find what’s...
