Kandahar | Travel Permit Process + Citywalk Route Sharing

🍀Foreigner Travel Permit Process🍀 To visit attractions in Kandahar, foreigners must first go to the Ministry of Tourism to complete travel procedures. The Kandahar tourism department can only issue permits for local attractions in Kandahar. For other cities, you need to visit the respective city's tourism bureau. Only Kabul can issue permits for all provinces nationwide. The specific process is as follows: Go to the Kandahar Department of Information and Culture, inform the staff about the number of people and the purpose of your trip, and they will issue a paper certificate. Show this certificate to the authorities at the attractions. Opening hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The address is: 📍 Khandahar Information and Culture Directory (It’s hard to find on Google Maps, but it’s near the roundabout close to Noor Jahan Hotel, marked as a cultural center.) ————— Citywalk Route————— Kandahar is the second-largest city in Afghanistan and the stronghold of the Taliban. It was once a historical city, but there aren’t many places to visit now. Below are some recommended spots: 📍Ahmed Shah Baba Durrani Tomb Ahmed Shah Baba is the founder of the Durrani Dynasty and the father of modern Afghanistan. His mausoleum is one of the few local attractions. Foreign tourists are usually allowed to visit the exterior, but the interior, which is said to be magnificent, was closed for an event when we visited. ✨ 📍 Kharqa Sharif (The Shrine of Cloak) This mosque is famous for housing the cloak of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad and holds significant importance in the Islamic world. The mosque is built with a lot of marble and is located near the Baba Mausoleum. 📍 Forty Steps (Map location near Marhom Mosa Khan Jama Mosque) Another important attraction in Kandahar, built by Emperor Babur after conquering Kandahar. The inscriptions are carved in Persian. Currently, there’s no entrance fee, and you can climb the stairs to the top for a distant view. Here, we met a group of adorable children, who were even more beautiful than the scenery. Additionally, here’s another spot recommended by a Kandahar cultural tourism official: Mirwais Hotak Mausoleum (Near the Herat Bus Drop-off Point, close to the river) #KandaharTravel #Kandahar #Afghanistan #Citywalk
