🌮 Kensington Market: Toronto’s Vibrant Culinary & Cultural Playground
Nestled beside Chinatown, Kensington Market 📍 isn’t just a neighborhood—it’s a year-round adventure 🌞❄️. Wander its winding streets lined with vintage boutiques, eclectic cafes, creative galleries, summer pop-up markets, and spontaneous street performances . But let’s talk food—this place is a Mexican cuisine paradise 🌮🌶️, with authentic ingredients for home cooks and taco joints that’ll ruin you for all others. 🐟 Seven Lives One of my top 2 fish taco spots (the other? A humble food truck in Markham called Dos Amigos 🚚💨, open only half the year). Seven Lives’ fish is crispy-outside, flaky-inside, piled high with fresh toppings. Judging by my photo spree, I clearly can’t stay away. 🌮 El Trompo A recent discovery: 5 tacos for ~$15, each bite-sized but meat-packed. Tried lengua (beef tongue—life-changing), tajin chicken, and beef. The frozen margarita 🍹❄️ stole the show (lime > mango), and the patio’s live Latin music 🎶 had me dancing in my seat—until the singer dragged me into a selfie. No privacy in Kensington! 🐄 Taqueria El Pastorcito After a mind-blowing lengua taco in Florida, I hunted for its equal in Toronto. This spot delivers—moist, crispy-edged tongue that melts like butter. 🎭 Pair it with pineapple chunks and spicy pickled onions (plus salsa, obviously). 🧀 Global Cheese Shoppe This gem sells dry Greek yogurt (add honey for a treat) and feeds you free cheese samples like a doting grandma 👵🧀. Stock up on Italian cookies, chocolates, and mascarpone for tiramisu dreams. ☕ FIKA Cafe A blue fairy-tale house serving beet-spiced lattes 🍠🥛 and pastries I’ve yet to try (always too full!). Also: quirky coffee beans for the caffeine connoisseur. 🐙 Takoyaki6ix My go-to for octopus balls (sorry, Gushi—dunking them in oil was a betrayal 💔). These handmade ones? Crispy, tender, perfect. “Kensington Market: Where every corner serves a story, and every bite feels like a celebration.” 🎉 #100PlacesToEat #TorontoFoodie #KensingtonVibes #TacoTrail 🍴🚶
