Key West 🌴
I always take tons of photos but never get around to organizing them. Every time I fly, I end up deleting a bunch. Before these memories disappear forever, let me share a few here. ✈️📸 During a business trip to Miami, I found myself with a couple of free days between meetings. So, I squeezed in a mini-vacation and made my way to Key West—the southernmost island in the U.S., famous for Hemingway’s home and the starting point of U.S. Highway 1. 🚗💨 As always, I dove into online guides and travel blogs before visiting. Key West, with its quirky charm, did not disappoint. The island is packed with fascinating stories and a laid-back vibe. The drive from Miami to Key West spans 200+ km (4 hours), winding down the narrow Overseas Highway (US-1). Crossing bridge after bridge, passing tiny islands, the ocean views were absolutely stunning. 🌉🌊 Some call Key West the "twin of the world’s end," while others say it’s a haven for artists and free spirits. I spent a leisurely afternoon there, watched the sunset, devoured some stone crab, and then headed back. 🦀🌅 With its tropical marine climate, Key West in February felt like summer—warm sunshine, salty breezes, and locals strolling around in floral shirts and flip-flops. I almost wished I’d packed a flowy dress to blend in (though, let’s be real, I was the obvious tourist*). 😂 One of the most delightful quirks? Roosters everywhere! 🐓🇨🇺 Cubans, who have a deep cultural love for roosters, brought this tradition to Key West. Brightly colored chickens roam freely, and you’ll spot rooster-themed art, souvenirs, and even street sculptures. It’s amazing how one creature can be so celebrated in one corner of the world. A year has flown by since that trip, but I still remember Hemingway’s six-toed cats vividly. Though, I must admit, the copy of "The Sun Also Rises" I bought there? Yeah… only made it through a few pages. 📖😅 #KeyWest #TravelMemories #HemingwayHouse #FloridaKeys #SunsetLovers #RoosterVibes #BookLoversFail
