Suizenji Jōju-en 🌿 🎢🌟 Suizenji Jōju-en is a representative garden in Kumamoto, blending the historical culture of the Edo period with natural landscapes. 🌿 It was originally built in 1636 by the lord of Kumamoto Domain, Hosokawa Tadatoshi, as a private teahouse called "Suizenji Ochaya." Later, it was expanded by the third-generation lord into a Momoyama-style strolling garden. 🎢🌟 I spent 700 yen on matcha and traditional sweets, and sat on the engawa (veranda) to enjoy the garden view. 🌿Within arm's reach, there were mountains and water, lush greenery, and an incredibly refined Japanese aesthetic experience. 🍵 Kumamoto Castle 🏯 🎢🌟 Kumamoto Castle is the iconic landmark of Kumamoto City and is known as one of Japan's three great castles, alongside Osaka Castle and Nagoya Castle. It was originally built in 1601 by the famous Sengoku-period general Kato Kiyomasa and represents the pinnacle of Edo-period castle architecture. 🌿 Today, the main keep of Kumamoto Castle was reconstructed in 1960, and the Honmaru Goten (lord's residence) was restored in 2008. #Kumamoto 🌇#KumamotoTravel #JapaneseGardens #CastleAdventures 🌿
