La Carreta Miami – The Older Brother of Versailles! 🎭
Having grown up in Miami, La Carreta has always been my go-to Cuban restaurant 💙. What makes it even more special is its rich history: the restaurant was founded by Felipe Valls Sr., the same visionary who later opened the now more famous Versailles Restaurant right across the street! Even after 45 years, I still have vivid memories of meeting friends at "La Ventanita" (which means "the little window")—a concept that Felipe Valls pioneered ✨. Today, this style of service has become a Miami staple, with nearly every Cuban restaurant offering its own small window perfect for grabbing a quick cortadito and a bite ☕. Recently, I visited with my family and my mother-in-law, who was born in Spain. We indulged in an absolute feast 🎉: Masitas de Puerco – tender, flavorful fried pork bites Cuban-Style Spaghetti – a unique and savory twist Cuban Sandwich – classic, crispy, and delicious Milanesa Steak – breaded and full of flavor Empanadas – perfectly fried and filled And here’s our family rule: you can truly judge a Cuban spot by the quality of their Batido de Mamey (mamey milkshake) 💛—and La Carreta never disappoints! If you can’t get into Versailles, or simply want to experience a different slice of Calle Ocho culture, La Carreta is your spot. It’s more than a restaurant—it’s a Miami original, full of soul, flavor, and history ❤️. #LaCarretaMiami #CubanFood #VersaillesOlderBrother #CalleOcho #VentanitaVibes #MiamiEats #FamilyMeal #CortaditoTime #MameyMilkshake #CubanSandwich #MiamiOriginal #FoodWithHistory ✨
