Ladino โ Where Ambiance Outshines the Food ๐ฝ๏ธ๐ฟ
During our recent trip to Texas, we followed the Michelin Guide and decided to try Ladino. We opted for the Tasting Menu for two, and overall, it was a decent experienceโthough the service and atmosphere stood out more than the dishes themselves. If you can snag a reservation without a long wait, it's worth a visit! ๐ ๐ท Drinks & Dining Vibe We started with a Greek red wine, Kit-yianni ๐ โ a bit too tannic for our taste, with light fruit notes and limited complexity. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the service was attentive and smooth. Dishes arrived promptly, each nicely introduced by the staff. ๐ Tasting Menu Highlights & Lowlights ๐ซ Tirshi โ A spiced pumpkin dip that was sweet, savory, and subtly spicy. Well-balanced and delicious! ๐ ๐ง Beets & Leeks โ The leeks were tender and sweet, but the beets had a slight earthy bitterness we didnโt love. ๐ Roasted Sweet Potato โ Topped with an intriguing sauce of mint, garlic, fried rice, and savory paste. Surprisingly balanced โ a must-try! ๐ Pork Souvlaki โ Good fat-to-lean ratio with a nice charred flavor, though it toughened up as it cooled. ๐ Saffron Chicken โ Tender and smoky, but the first serving was undercooked ๐ฌ. They replaced it promptly, and the second was perfect. The rice was just okay. ๐ฆ Kabak Tatlisi โ A tahini ice cream that tasted like creamy salted cheese, topped with sesame and candied pumpkin. Unique and yummy! ๐ต Price: Around $70 per person. ๐ Location: In the trendy Pearl District, just north of downtown. 200 E Grayson St #100, San Antonio, TX 78215 A stylish spot with some hits and missesโbut youโll leave full and feeling fancy! โจ #LadinoSATX #SanAntonioEats #MichelinGuide #MediterraneanFood #TexasFoodie
