Las Vegas • Yunnan Tasty Garden – Crab Master
I’d heard good things, but after going… let’s just say I wondered, “Is this really the level of Chinese food in Vegas?” 😅 We grabbed the last available table when we arrived — those after us had to wait, though the line moved pretty fast. The servers were nice — friendly but not overbearing. Their signature is supposed to be crab, which we originally wanted to try. But we were shocked to see it priced at $80+ for just one snow crab (judging from neighboring tables). Maybe seafood is pricier here since Vegas is landlocked… We ended up skipping it — plenty of great crab spots in Philly, NYC, and Edison anyway! We ordered the build-your-own spicy dry pot (mala xiangguo) — you pick ingredients like in China, but the selection felt limited. I chose mild spice and no broth, but it was just okay — heavy on cumin and salt. Also… I clearly remember adding four quail eggs, but only three showed up in the pot. Where’s the fourth? 🥚👀 The signature Crossing-the-Bridge Rice Noodles — served with toppings already mixed in (not the DIY Yunnan style, as the server explained). Toppings like shredded chicken breast, ham, and veggies were hidden under the noodles. Not exactly authentic compared to what I had in Yunnan, but it was light and pleasant — a good break from the salty dry pot. Steam Pot Black Chicken Soup — packed with ingredients, with a slight herbal/medicinal taste (maybe intentional?). The chicken was cut small but super dry — guess it’s really just for drinking the broth. On a positive note — their house tea was really delicious! Not sure what kind, but very refreshing. 💰 Two people: $66.xx + tip 📍 5115 Spring Mountain Rd suite 103-105, Las Vegas, NV 89146 #LasVegasEats #ChineseFood #YunnanFood #CrabRestaurant #MalaXiangGuo #RiceNoodles
