Las Vegas Travel Diary | How Did I Run Into F1 During My Vacation? ποΈ
I came to Las Vegas for a simple vacation β but the day after I landed, the Las Vegas Strip got taken over by the F1 Grand Prix! π§ They closed down the main Strip and even parts of the sidewalks near all the major hotels and casinos. With luck like this, maybe I should try my hand at the slots π°! Some brand stores displayed their sponsored F1 race cars π₯ β each covered head to toe in ads. F1 really is a business that makes (and burns) crazy money πΈβ¦ which fits perfectly with Vegasβ over-the-top vibe. π Morning: Hoover Dam Half-Day Tour Booked via TripAdvisor β hotel pickup included π. Our driver-guide talked nonstop, sharing facts about the dam, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Arizona π£οΈπ. But honestly? It felt like a TOEFL listening section β a historical lecture that went in one ear and out the other π΄. Still, I picked up one cool fact: The Hoover Dam sits on the border of Nevada and Arizona β° β there are two clocks on either end, each showing the different time zones (1-hour apart!). π Afternoon: Exploring the Las Vegas Strip I wandered along the Strip, checking out iconic hotels and themed spots π°: New York-New York: Statue of Liberty replica π½ Luxor: Giant Sphinx & pyramid-shaped hotel π« Paris Las Vegas: Eiffel Tower replica πΌ Caesars Palace: Roman-inspired architecture ποΈ Flamingo: Flamingo habitat in the garden 𦩠Excalibur: Castle-shaped hotel that awakened my inner weeb π‘οΈπ₯ (I stayed here just because of the name!) π Final Thoughts Las Vegas is a great travel destination π: Hotels are relatively affordable (since they make bank from casinos) π° Tons of attractions and activities in the city πͺ Nearby national/state parks and off-road trails for adventure ποΈ Itβs better to road trip here β tours felt too slow for my taste π’. Iβd love to go trail running or off-roading, but Iβm not confident going alone yet ππ¨.
