LIC's Towering Jackson Park (1)π
Long Island City, the satellite city of Manhattan. π’π Many people initially confuse Long Island City with Long Island, thinking that Long Island City, like Long Island, is far from the city center and requires a car to get to. However, upon further investigation, it becomes clear that the closest parts of Long Island City to Manhattan are just a 5-minute subway ride away on the 7 train. π Over a decade ago, developers began to turn their attention to this area, which is just a river away from Manhattan. π’π The low land prices and convenient transportation were the main reasons for their investment. The first rental apartment developers found that offering a place to live just a river away from Manhattan at a lower price than on the island itself was particularly attractive to white-collar workers in Manhattan. πΌ π’π As the plots of land along the river in Long Island City became increasingly scarce, the development of rental apartments began to expand inward into Queens along the subway lines. The most famous and largest of these is Jackson Park LIC. #NewYork ππ
