Lily’s Kitchen – Highly Recommended Seasonal Chinese Dishes
📍 235 Lancaster Ave, Malvern, PA 19355 Wanted to try the steamed spare ribs with black bean sauce, stir-fried pork stomach strips, and stir-fried water bamboo shoots — but none were available 😭. The first two were sold out, and the water bamboo shoots are best in late summer/early fall (frozen ones don’t taste as good, so they’re not currently serving them). Since many reviewers recommend these, I’ll have to try again another time. Tip: Call ahead to check if your desired dishes are available to avoid disappointment! 📞 Some have mentioned slow service, but I didn’t find it too bad. I arrived around 11 AM on a weekend — first table of the day. More customers started coming after 12 PM, and the owner seemed to be the only server. If you’re concerned about wait times, consider calling your order in advance! ⏳ 🍘 Sesame Balls – $2 each Made fresh daily! We ordered one, but the owner kindly gave us an extra one 😊. Unlike typical hollow sesame balls, these had a soft, taro-like filling. Would have been even better if served warm — maybe ask to heat it up! 🔥 🧆 Stir-Fried Green Beans with Shredded Pork – $19.99 The owner’s recommendation — and for good reason! The green beans were fresh and arrived that day — incredibly crisp, tender, and juicy. A must-order! 🥢💚 🐂 Beef with Pickled Mustard Greens – $18.95 Slightly sweet pickled greens paired with tender beef slices. You can also choose to add bitter melon. Great for those who enjoy sweet & sour flavors — I personally loved it! 🥘😋 🥙 Stir-Fried Yam with Wood Ear Mushrooms – $18.99 A homestyle, comforting dish — order based on personal preference. Nearby spot: There’s a Thai restaurant called Tuk Tuk Thai Kitchen which is also pretty good — mentioned in my previous notes.
