Lobster Fishing Tour in Portland, Maine
We visited Portland again for a weekend of eating and exploring—and a big highlight of this trip was checking out the lobster fishing tour 🦞! I’d read beforehand that lobster fishing tours depart from Long Wharf, with tours run by Lucky Catch Cruise. I thought we could just walk in, but luck wasn’t on our side: when we arrived around 10 AM, we were told all slots for the day were already booked. So if you want to do this, book in advance! (See below for booking details.) Right next door, you can also join whale watching tours. Funny enough, their boats depart at 10 AM, but the ticket office only opens at 11 AM—clearly, that’s another one you need to book ahead too! (Booking info available below.) We were a bit disappointed and figured we’d just head to Luke’s Lobster for a consolation meal. But then—what a twist of fate! We spotted a billboard around the corner… and there it was—the ticket office we’d been looking for, right next to Luke’s Lobster! The price was the same: $50 per person, with tours at 1 PM and 3 PM that afternoon. We snapped up tickets for the 1 PM tour on the spot, and finally checked “go lobster fishing” off our list! There were only 14 guests on the boat, so everyone got plenty of time to join in the fun—it was such a great experience ✨. After boarding, we even got to enjoy lobster from Luke’s Lobster right on the boat. Compared to Boston’s, Maine’s lobsters are definitely plumper and sweeter—my mouth is watering just thinking about it 😍! P.S. Last night, we finally got to eat at the super popular Eventide without waiting in line. The secret? Just arrive early! As someone with a Chinese palate, my top pick by far was their lobster bisque 🥣. #Maine #MaineTravel #MaineTravelGuide #MaineLobster #WhaleWatchingGuide #PortlandTravel #BostonAreaTravel
