London | A Michelin One-Star Experience That Leaves You Still Hungry

It's rare to leave a Michelin restaurant still feeling hungry. Usually, it's because the portions are small and the meal drags on for so long that you don't feel satisfied. But leaving with an empty stomach? That's a first for me, and it happened at 📍 Ormer Mayfair... hôtel️ **Ambiance:** Hotel-style dining with a rather formal decor. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 **Service:** Attentive, with servers frequently checking in. ⏳ **Duration:** 2.5 hours 😋 **Food Quality:** 3/5 To be fair, the food wasn't bad, but the portions were incredibly small. Even after two rounds of bread, I only felt about 80% full. 🍲 Appetizers: - **Canapés:** The fried meatballs were average, but the sea bass tartare and foie gras tart were delicious. - **Waldorf Salad:** A cheese soup? The creamy flavor was decent. - **Sourdough Bread:** If you knew the best part of the meal was the bread, you might as well skip the restaurant... But it was genuinely one of the best breads I've had, especially with the olive oil and honey butter, which was truly delicious! After complimenting the waiter, I was immediately offered two more slices, which unexpectedly became the highlight of the evening. 🍲 Main Courses: - **Iberico Pork Jelly:** Just a salty ham jelly with nothing much else to say. - **Mackerel:** The portion was about the size of one of my fingers. Was this a tasting portion? It was so small I couldn't even remember the taste. - **Scallop:** Medium-sized, overcooked, but the seasoning was good. - **Pigeon:** I highly recommend watching the live photos. The waiter's pouring of the sauce and the size of the meat form an extremely stark contrast. It was about 1/4 the size of my palm, just enough for two cuts. 🍲 Dessert: - **Kefir:** By dessert time, I was only about 50% full and completely speechless. I quickly called the waiter for more bread. I strongly suspect they're so accommodating with the bread because they know how disappointing their menu is... 🍲 Other: - **English Saffron Apple:** - **Petit Fours:** - **Vegetarian Menu:** All dishes were different except for dessert, and the only common point might be the equally small portions. 💰 **Price:** 8-course tasting menu | £122 💸 **Actual Cost:** £180 per person #food #dinner #LondonLife #LondonAvoid #NoGirlCanResist #BeautifulFood #CreativeCuisine #GlobalFoodieSquad #LondonRestaurantReview #LondonMichelinOneStar
