London | The Ledbury – Is the New 3-Michelin-Star Worth It? 🌟🍽️
I’ve been meaning to try The Ledbury for ages but kept putting it off because of the location—finally visited this year after its upgrade from 2 to 3 stars! The 8.5% service charge felt justified, with impeccable service and delicious complimentary bites. The 8-course tasting menu left us stuffed (they even packed the three petit fours for us to take home!). ⚠️ Heads-up: This season’s menu features multiple goat cheese elements—avoid if that’s not your thing. Reservations are surprisingly easy lately (snagged ours just 3 days in advance). Scroll for the full menu! 🍞 Bread Course The goat cheese-infused bread nearly sent my friend to the afterlife 😅 (proceed with caution if you’re not a fan!). 🍊 Ike Jime Chalk Stream Trout Firm, chilled trout with a bright citrus gelée and subtle wasabi grassiness. Apple-marigold bits added a celery-like bitter-sweet finish. 🦐 Mylor Prawn Silky-sweet prawn paired with shiso oil and lemon verbena (think lime zest vibes). Crispy white turnip balanced the sticky fig purée. 🥚 Hen’s Egg Yolk Vibrant orange yolk + pea mousse, topped with wild garlic oil (hint of scallion) and crispy meat crumbs. 🐟 Cornish Dover Sole Delicate fish with creamy white asparagus sauce and a salty pop from caviar. 🍄 Mushrooms from the Cabinet Caramelized fungi with smoky sweetness, amplified by aged cheese. 🐑 Eric Taylforth's Herdwick Lamb Juicy, fatty cuts from multiple parts of the lamb—intense gaminess (too strong for me; the condiments couldn’t save it 😖). 🥭 Alphonso Mango Tart frozen sorbet with honey crisps for balance—refreshing but borderline too sharp. 🍫 85% Hacienda Victoria Chocolate A bitter-chocolate Napoleon—good but not groundbreaking. 💸 Damage: £630 for two (£315 pp), including wine pairings. Verdict: ✔️ Worth it for the experience (hello, new 3-star hype!) ✔️ Standout dishes: Trout, Prawn, Egg Yolk ❌ Skip if: You dislike lamb/goat cheese or prefer subtle flavors. #LondonFood #MichelinStar #TheLedbury #FineDining #LondonEats #FoodieReview
