London 🏮 Hidden Gem Izakaya in Angel at Affordable Prices

There are so many delicious eats around Angel. I’ve shared a Japanese family restaurant before, and recently I discovered a genuine and affordable Japanese izakaya treasure called Tenshi. The menu clearly shows the authentic flavors of a Japanese tapas bar, and most of the staff are Japanese. It’s super popular, even weeknights are full, and there were still people queuing at 8 PM when we were there. Meeting up with friends in the evening to chat, complain about work and life’s troubles, the atmosphere in the izakaya is especially wonderful on a cold winter night in London. 🌟 Takowasa Wasabi Octopus This is a must-order appetizer for me every time. The slippery octopus with a wasabi kick is a treat for the taste buds. The only downside is the small portion size. 🌟 Yakitori Ume Plum Sauce Chicken Skewers The chicken is tender with a scallion fragrance, and the highlight is the plum sauce – a sour and salty flavor that plum sauce lovers will adore, enhancing the flavor of the grilled chicken skewers. 👍🏼 Tonpei Yaki Pork and Cabbage Omelette I was surprised at such a large portion for under 10 pounds. The omelette wrap contains pork slices and shredded cabbage. The omelette is tender, the cabbage is crispy, and the pork is tender (with no gamey taste). This was my first time trying this dish (I’ve only seen Okonomiyaki before, which they also have). Although it’s listed under starters, it’s substantial enough to be a main course. 🌟 Unagi Kabayaki Grilled Eel Another must-order for me when it comes to Japanese cuisine. It’s best to eat it hot as soon as it arrives! The first bite is stunning, with the hot grilled eel having a softer, more glutinous texture. Even when it cools down, it still tastes great, but the texture isn’t as dense as when eaten hot. 👍🏼 Vegetable Yakisoba Fried Noodles with Shrimp Also best enjoyed hot right when it’s served. The noodles have a slightly sweet and sour seasoning. It’s the kind of egg noodles that are distinct and topped with bonito flakes. ✋🏼 Smoked Mentaiko Smoked Fish with Radish A standard izakaya snack to go with drinks. The outer radish is very crispy, but if you’re not drinking, the fish might be a bit too salty, so I wouldn’t recommend ordering it. 👍🏼 Orion Beer My “drinking buddy” friend ordered what is supposedly a London exclusive Orion beer, which is very popular in Okinawa. I had a small sip; it was slightly bitter with a strong wheat flavor. 💰 With all this food, the average cost per person was only around £30, which is very reasonable. #SavorTheFlavors #LondonJapaneseCuisine #LondonLife #FoodieMap #JapaneseIzakaya #AtmosphericRestaurant #WeekendBliss
