London Hidden Gem - Brunel Tunnel Museum

❤️This year, I’ve seen many tunnels, from Antwerp to London 💼 The Brunel Tunnel under the Thames River is the world’s first pedestrian river-crossing tunnel. ❤️In a world without standards and guidelines 200 years ago, this short 400-meter tunnel was dug entirely by hand and took 18 years to complete. Everything is filled with the charm of mechanical civil engineering. ❤️Including this caisson, which was sunk into the ground by adding bricks one by one to increase its own weight. Now, 20 meters south of the tunnel has been converted into a small subway station, allowing you to traverse the two centuries of the Thames in just 30 seconds. #LondonLife #London #Tunnel #HiddenGem #OffTheBeatenPath #LondonExploration #LondonPhotography
