London Life | My Secret Garden

šŸ’•The history of The Hill Garden and Pergola dates back to 1904 when Lord Leverhulme purchased a large terraced house named ā€œThe Hillā€ in Hampstead Heath. He dreamt of creating a perfect garden, what we might call a luxurious garden. To turn his dream into reality, Lord Leverhulme hired Thomas Mawson to design the garden and Pergola. Construction began in 1905 and spanned years, only completing in 1925 due to the interruption of World War I. Today, the park is owned by the City of London Corporation and is open to the public for free visits all year round. šŸ¤The plants within the garden are wild, unruly, rugged, yet somehow enchanting. There’s no sense of artificiality here; everything feels completely natural. The autumn colors are complex and layered. 🧔Each pillar and wooden beam is entwined with withered vines, symbolizing life extending and indulging limitlessly. (I won’t let anyone in this world not know about this abandoned garden) A must-visit for niche enthusiasts! šŸ’š Opening Times: 8:30 am to 3:30 pm #LondonLife #LondonHiddenGems #LondonGardens #WeekendVibes #Ruins #SecretsOfTheRuins #ArtsAndCrafts #LandscapeDesign #GardenDesign #ArtWandering
