London Limited-Time Exhibition | Contemporary Rituals Under the Dome
The “In Attendance” exhibition features 11 art pieces in various forms, prompting the audience to ponder a question: What does it truly mean to “attend”? These works are all related to the history of the Fitzrovia Chapel—a place that was once part of a hospital where people rested, prayed, and sought spiritual solace. 😢✝️🏥 Inspired by the philosopher Simone Weil, the exhibition suggests that “attendance” is not about staring intently at something for answers but is like a quiet, waiting vessel: to empty oneself and let the true nature of things reveal itself. For instance, observing a cloud slowly change shape, or listening to a friend without the urge to interrupt—such an open attitude can lead to a deeper understanding of the world. 🌥️👂💭 The artists have implemented this concept in different ways: some leaving hesitant brushstrokes on canvas, others sculpting broken forms in ceramics, and still others recording subtle changes through video. The audience is also “requested” to slow down—for example, standing in front of a distorted sculpture, you can’t just glance and move on; it compels you to stop and feel the touch of fragility. Just as the chapel once embraced people in pain, these works now invite us to gently attend to the often-overlooked life stories: the wound of a tree, the unease of an animal, or the silent pain of a stranger. 🎨🤒🌳 Thus, through a variety of media, the artists guide the audience to slow down and attend to vulnerability and suffering. Definitely worth a visit! 👀👍🖼️ 🖤Fitzrovia Chapel 🖤Time: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 🖤Admission: Free (walk in) #LondonDaily #LondonLife #LondonExhibitions #ContemporaryArt #ArtExhibition #ArtistShare #Aesthetics #NicheExhibition #WeekendPlans #DailyArtist
