London New Opening: Morchella
📍 As the tornado of bistros sweeps through Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, the tsunami of small plates has also engulfed London. The basic idea of these restaurants is to spend more money for less food. 📍 This restaurant has just opened and has received widespread praise in the industry. It’s all about small plate sharing, distilling the flavors of Spain and Italy, making changes to classic dishes, shrinking them down, refining them, and making them more expensive – a set of moves that British chefs excel at. 📍 8.5£ for a bite-sized veal roll and £18 for a two-bite pasta, and a £14 radicchio salad with just 5 leaves. London’s prices are constantly blowing my mind. Setting aside the price factor, the adapted Spanish dishes are tastier than the adapted Italian ones. Italian cuisine just isn’t meant to be tampered with. 📍 In summary: Where’s the expensive part? Look for your own reasons.
