London Spring Outing | A Guide to Deer Spotting in Richmond Park 🌿

Richmond Park is London's largest Royal Park, covering about 2,500 acres—three times bigger than Hyde Park. The wild deer roam freely here. There are plenty of them, but they're spread out, so finding them feels like a low-intensity adventure. 🌳 🦌 How to Spot the Deer? Recommended entrances: Pembroke Lodge or Robin Hood Gate. Head to the open grassy areas early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Stay quiet and observe from a distance, and you'll often see the deer grazing at the edge of the woods. (Picture 9 is where I spotted the deer twice.) The deer aren't afraid of people, but keep your distance, especially from the stags. 🦌 📅 Best Times: Early morning and late afternoon when the light is soft and the deer are more active. On rainy days, they tend to hide more, while on sunny days, they're more likely to be out and about. ☀️ 🚲 The park is huge, so it's best to combine cycling with walking. There are dedicated cycling paths, and it takes about an hour to cycle around. It's recommended to bring your own bike. Lime bikes can be rented near Richmond, but they're not allowed inside the park. 🚴‍♂️ 📸 Photography Tips: Since the deer keep their distance, bring a telephoto lens or a phone with a zoom feature. Avoid talking loudly or getting too close for a better shot. 📸 ☕ Richmond town itself is worth exploring. Right outside the station is the high street, packed with cafes, restaurants, and little shops. On weekends, there's a market by the river called Duck Pond Market. It's perfect for a leisurely stroll. 🍵 The area is one of the safest and most satisfying places to live in London, with a quiet environment and proximity to the river making it very livable. 🏡 🚇 How to Get There: Take the District Line on the London Underground directly to Richmond. You can also take National Rail from Waterloo, which takes about 20 minutes and drops you off near the park. It's about a 15-minute walk from the station. 🚇 ⚠️ Important Notes: Feeding the deer is prohibited, and it's not recommended to take close-up photos. Avoid standing directly in front of the deer or in their escape paths. Be especially careful of aggressive stags during the rutting season (autumn). ⚠️ 🎒 What to Wear: Opt for dark clothing and avoid bright or reflective materials. Wear comfortable walking shoes, as the ground can be slippery. Bring some snacks and water if you plan to walk for a long time. Remember, this isn't a zoo; it's a more natural way to observe the deer. 🌿 If you enjoy the balance between city life and nature, this area is perfect for a slow, relaxing day. 🌟 #ParkLife #20MinutesToNature #LivingInLondon #TravelToLondon #HumansNeedParks #SpringOuting #UK #UKWorkLife #LetsGoOuting #SpringOuting #DeerSpotting #Richmond #RichmondPark #RichmondDeer #ParkAndWildlife #DeerLovers #ParkEnthusiast
