London through the Eyes of Monet 🎨
The Centennial Premiere Exhibition, A Poem of Light and Color ‘Every day, I find London more beautiful to paint.’ Monet wrote in a letter to his wife during his time in London 💌 Turns out London is so conducive to creating oil paintings 🖼️ 125 years ago, Monet arrived in ‘Foggy London’ and set up his easel at the 🏨Savoy Hotel, observing the sunrise and sunset on the banks of the Thames and the play of light and shadow in the morning mist, 🌄 creating a series of Thames masterpieces. 21 brilliant works are on display at The Courtauld Gallery. Monet lived in London for extended periods three times between 1899 and 1901. His paintings focus on three areas along the Thames: Charing Cross Bridge, Waterloo Bridge, and the Houses of Parliament. ☀️ These are places I’ve passed countless times, and in Monet’s brushstrokes, the subtle changes of light and shadow are depicted so delicately. The smoke, fog, sunlight, and the rise and set of the sun from the era of the Industrial Revolution are all showcased by Monet. Monet had wanted to exhibit this series in London when he completed it, but unfortunately, he never had the chance to realize it. Finally, today, his wish is fulfilled. The exhibition hall is not large, but each piece is stunning. ✨ 📝 Exhibition Dates: September 27, 2024 – January 19, 2025 #Impressionism #Monet #LondonMonet #LondonLife #LondonArtExhibitions #ArtistFromTheStars #UnforgettableSights #ArtExhibitions #LondonWeekend
