Long Weekend Getaway

Long Weekend Getaway: 4 Days & 3 Nights in Savannah & Charleston 🗓️ 📍 Trip Summary Savannah’s downtown is tiny—no need to rent a car at all; you can walk to all major attractions! Even in the middle of the night, the streets are still bustling with people, so the nightlife vibe is super lively 🌃. Charleston, however, has attractions that are more spread out, with some far from downtown—definitely recommend renting a car for easier travel 🚗. Both cities are steeped in history, and every corner feels like a movie set—ancient oak trees draped in moss, red-brick buildings covered in vines; every casual snap turns into a retro-style blockbuster 🌴📷! Personally, I thought Charleston was more fun, so I suggest allocating more time to it. If I get the chance later, I’d love to visit Charleston again for a deeper dive! 🗓️ Day 1 | Savannah Itinerary 🏨 Accommodation: Andaz Savannah The hotel’s location is unbeatable! It’s within walking distance to City Market and River Street—no detours needed at all. The sweetest touch? Every afternoon, the hotel hosts a s’mores-roasting activity. Sitting in the courtyard, toasting fluffy marshmallows, instantly brought back childhood joy 🍡! 🍜 Dinner: YATAI Ramen + Yakitori We arrived in Savannah late at night. After dropping off our luggage, we randomly picked a nearby restaurant. Their ramen was pretty mediocre—the broth wasn’t rich enough, and the noodles lacked chewiness. Definitely not worth making a special trip for ❌. 🍦 Dessert: Leopold's Ice Cream This century-old ice cream parlor has been open since 1919. Even its retro storefront exudes a strong sense of nostalgia, and the interior is decorated with old movie elements—even the menu looks like a vintage poster 📽️! The lemon custard flavor is a must-try—sweet, tangy, and refreshing, with no cloying aftertaste. The rum-infused flavors are also great. We waited in line for about 15 minutes on Friday night, but it was totally worth it the second we took a bite! 🗓️ Day 2 | Savannah Itinerary 🍳 Breakfast: Toast! All Day This popular American brunch spot had a long line even on a rainy day 🌧️! We ordered the Belgian Waffle and Eggs Meeting Street—maybe we didn’t pick the restaurant’s specialties, but both tasted average, not as amazing as the online hype made it out to be. ☕ Coffee: The Coffee Fox Roasting Co. A locally loved specialty coffee roaster—they roast their own beans in-house! We got a classic latte; the foam was smooth, the coffee aroma was rich, and it went down easily. Perfect for a pick-me-up when you’re tired from walking ☕. 🍯 Specialty Shop: Savannah Bee Company A hidden gem famous for its honey products! The store has all kinds of honey, beeswax goods, and even offers free mead tastings. We bought blueberry honey soda—it had a subtle blueberry fragrance and sweet honey taste, super refreshing and perfect for summer 💧. 🎨 Cultural Experience: SCAD Story This exhibition space belongs to the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Admission is free, but you need to book online in advance. The whole experience is incredibly immersive—using lighting, sound effects, and interactive installations to tell SCAD’s founding history and artistic philosophy. Even if you’re not an art student, you’ll feel the strong artistic atmosphere and learn a lot ✨. ⛲ Park: Forsyth Park The park is filled with lush green trees, and its iconic white fountain sits right in the center. Unfortunately, the fountain wasn’t working the day we visited, which took away some of the vibe 😢. But you can totally imagine—on a sunny day, with sunlight glistening on the fountain’s water, it must be a perfect photo spot! 🍜 Lunch: Flying Monk Noodle Bar We ordered the signature Na Na Noodles and Singapore Noodles. Both were just so-so—the noodles had an average texture, and the sauce left no lasting impression. It’s the kind of place you can skip if you’re short on time. #Savannah#SavannahTravel#SCAD#LaborDay
