Los Angeles | The Vibrant Korean Izakaya DanSungSa š¢š„
āļø This Korean-style grill spot is a legendary late-night canteen for downtown folksāopen until 2 AM! Itās one of my all-time favorite restaurants. Whenever I canāt decide what to eat, I end up here. The place is always packed; Iāve visited over five times, and every time thereās a lineāespecially on weekends! š„² The plaza where itās located offers valet parking: $4 cash, or card with a small fee. āļø The restaurant isnāt huge, and from the outside, it looks like an old-school building. But once you step inside, the energy hits youālively conversations, the sizzle of grilling skewers, and the clinking of glasses fill the space. š The staff greets you in Korean and leads you to your seat. The menu is creatively designed on a wooden board, like holding a royal token šŖµ, featuring a variety of skewers and stir-fried dishes. Recently, they added a new rule: you must order a drink to get skewers. So we symbolically got a pot of rice wine š¶, which came with a bowl of soup and some pickled radish and celery sticksāperfect accompaniments! š« Seafood Pancake: This is a must-order for me every time! Crispy, flavorful, and served with their secret spicy sauceāabsolutely delicious! Iāve also tried the Potato Pancake, which was good but got a bit heavy after two pieces. So I highly recommend the seafood version! š¦ š¦Ŗ Clam Soup: Another favorite, especially on a cold winter nightāthis soup warms you right up! The clams are plentiful, and the broth is savory with a hint of spiceāthe spicier, the better! š¶ļø š¦ Stir-Fried Squid: The aroma when it arrives is irresistibleāa perfect dish to enjoy with drinks! š» āļø Here are some skewers I highly recommend: š Rice Cake: A must-try! Crispy on the outside, soft inside, brushed with spicy sauceāeach bite is heavenly! š„© Beef Short Ribs: We ordered several platesāso tender and flavorful! š Chicken Gizzard: Grilled to perfectionācrispy and delicious! š Tomato Bacon: Sweet and tangy cherry tomatoes wrapped in baconājuicy bursts with every bite! š Name: Dan Sung Sa š Address: 3317 W 6th St, Los Angeles, CA 90020 ā° Hours: Everyday 4:00 PMā2:00 AM ššššš In summary, this is a true hidden gem and the ultimate spot for late-night eats. Chatting with friends over drinks and skewers here is pure happiness! š The only downsides? You now have to order drinks to get skewers, and because itās always busy, sometimes itās hard to flag down a server! š Have you been here before? Whatās your favorite late-night comfort food in LA?
