My rating is primarily based off of the service. If you're alright with below minimum expectations for service, then food here is average and the atmosphere is very vibrant. If you're looking for an overall experience that covers all the basics, this may not be the place for you. Been here a total of three times and all three times hasn't been the best when it comes to customer service. Staff doesn't seem to want to be there, minor questions get ignored, overlooked, or delayed by a very long time. Unfortunately, this third time will be my last time going.
As many may share with me, a tip is something deserved, not given. Absolute basics of a table server is to bring food and drinks, and attend on occasion for further assistance or extras like refills or more food. This isn't the case here. It is a very fast paced location but basics should met or at least shown an attempt to be met. First two visits I have tipped my normal average which is within an 18-20% tip, however, on this last visit, I didn't give my usual amount.
As we started to walk out of the establishment, I was stopped and held back by our server who very drastically chose to exclaim the amount I gave on this tip. It was very low and I won't argue that, but as a customer and consumer, that is absolutely no way to treat someone who you are obviously expecting a higher tip from. I was asked in a very loud and aggressive tone, why "just that" a total of three times in just 45 seconds. This isn't ok for anyone to do, situation does not matter. It only made me not want to return and regret that a tip was given at all.
We were thrown the paper in which orders are taken, we wrote down our own orders on it and had to wait for our server to return and pick it up. Our drinks were not given correctly and water was asked three times before it was finally given to us.
Food was rather bland, no seasoning on anything. The sauces used where the one and only thing put on the food to give it "flavor." The table was clearly designed for two people but was forced to fit four, making it extremely difficult to have any plates be placed on the table alongside any drinks or utensils you may be using.
Again, IF you are expecting a level of customer service to be given here, do not go. The food itself is tolerable, pricing is average, and environment is very great but I don't believe that may be enough for the...
Read moreTL;DR) Had an experience where we both suspect a massive “sexist” experience. Food was nothing crazy. Long wait. Confronted my girlfriend when she was alone at the table while they could not talk anything to myself (male). Yelled out “why less tip?” when we both were passing the lady on the front (owner of the restaurant). The server was great but the owner was not even close. 식당 주인께서 팁 1-2달러에 목숨을 거는 것으로 보여짐 :) The lady on the front got mad that we “only” tipped 20% on the food we ordered :)) (!) The drink was well above average price and it took a while to get server/bill so excluding the price of the drink and tax the tip would have been close to 22% even. Then the male server came to my girlfriend and told her to “re-think about the amount of the tip” “I’ll give you the bill back” in Korean second after I (male) left to go to the bathroom. She speaks in English more comfortably btw! The food portion was good considering the price, but their service was nowhere near them to expect 20% on tip including the drinks. If they thought the tip was not up to their expectation, then they should have came to talk when I was at the table, not when I was gone. Also why would they expect 20% tip on drinks if they barely can provide any sort of service or even a re-fill on the water. Also this place forces alcohol/drink purchase if you want to get skewers which is obscure compared to regular skewer plcs out there in ktown. I felt that it was them being sexist, so I had to change the tip to zero, then the male server told the lady on the counter “they left zero on the tip” as myself and my girlfriend was walking out. They literally chased us after. So they couldn’t confront myself but they came up completely rude to my girlfriend when...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem 💎 in Los Angeles! KTown has great food, BBQ restaurants, entertainment but this small restaurant would not be seen by the ordinary person or popular list because it's easy to miss. It's easy to just drive passed it but if you are exploring (walking) you will definitely smell the delicious food, and that's how I find things 🤤.
Looks torn down, not the fancy entrance, not renovated, no newly painted. . .but the kitchen is on point and on fire. Dead and Center you have the grilling, around it you have bar seating overlooking the grilling. A walkway around the bar seating area. Booths that only seat 4 people at most or 2 foodie angelinos.
There is also a seating area outside of the building that used to be patios but was closed off with wood planks. These wood planks are covered with graffiti and stickers. . .
The shock and uniqueness about this place is this. You are greated with a dark room, dimmed lights, sun shining though cracks from these wood planks. . .small window on far back wall. You are also hit with all the smoke, it's a dark Korean BBQ smoke house 🔥, with red curtains, wood tables and chairs/booths!!!
I ordered many, many small plates skewers to share with my kids. Lots of options from $1.99, $2.99 $3.99 yes!!!! Inexpensive and flavorful. . .there are many other plates, like 100 options ranging up to $15.99 per plate. We weren't very hungry but wanted to see the place.
The trick is that in order to buy those low cost skewers you have to buy an alcoholic 🍻. What a trick, I want to be tricked 3 times please. . .lol.
Enjoy this great place with your loved ones. 🔥.
I recommend the spicy 🔥 chicken, mushrooms, and shrimp.
I would definitely be back and order some fries, and plates. I saw a quail, and...
