Los Angeles Hiking | Scenery Catcher: Glendale Peak Trail
š Letās start with the conclusion first: This trail is definitely worth hiking! Itās recommended to start 2 hours before sunsetāthis way, you can perfectly enjoy the sunset, LA skyline, and Griffith Observatory during dusk, while also avoiding the scorching sun and the frustrating LA smog. š Glendale Peak Trailhead: 2715 N Vermont Canyon Rd. Thereās a free parking lot and street parking right next to the trailheadāsuper convenient! š„¾ Trail DetailsThe trail is 3.6 miles long, and the total time (including sightseeing) is about 2 hours. Although All Trails labels it as āModerate,ā LAās intense sun and three steep slopes make it feel more challenging in my book āļø. The trail is mostly dirt, with over half of it being uphill and no shade at all. āļø Our Hiking ExperienceWe started around 9 AM. The morning wind was cool, and we managed to head back before the heat wave hit. Overall, it was a really enjoyable city hikeāslightly challenging, but every stop offered a stunning view. Unfortunately, in summer, the weather is hot, the sun is intense, and LA smog gets worse, which makes the visibility toward Downtown pretty low š. š Pro Tip for Griffith Park HikesGriffith Park has a huge number of trailsāyou can choose one based on your fitness level, the scenery you want to see, and your starting point. Since the trails are close to each other and have many intersections, but the trail signs arenāt very clear, itās best to download an offline map in advance to avoid getting lost and straying too far. ā ļø Summer Hiking ReminderAs always, with high summer temperatures, sun protection and water are a must. Believe it or not, the 1.5 liters of water we brought for two people was barely enough! #LosAngeles #LosAngelesWeekend #LosAngelesFoodAndFun #WeekendGetaways #GriffithObservatory #LosAngelesTravel #LosAngelesSurroundings #downtown #la #LosAngelesHiking
