Loving It So Much I Don't Want to Share! A Hidden French 🖼️🍽️
Feel like this place is a well-kept secret! Every time I passed by, the downstairs was filled with Mayfair's private equity and investment banking elites enjoying drinks at the pub. 🍺 The upstairs restaurant is a delightful surprise, with a low-key yet full artistic atmosphere, surrounded by world-famous paintings, an abundance of artistic flair, and extremely comfortable—highly recommended for friends who love art and gourmet food! 🎨 🍃 Located on Mount Street, the most expensive in Mayfair, this restaurant owned by a gallery owner has every painting with a significant backstory—Matisse, Picasso, Philip Guston, George Condo... Amidst the dazzling array, one can't help but that British cuisine can indeed be delicious! 😎 🙌 Each dish is remarkable and utterly satisfying! ▫️ Pre-dinner bread with butter and chicken liver pâté, fluffy mousse-like texture, love it! ▫️ London butter lettuce salad Blue cheese & pear & amber walnuts & lemon dressing, refreshing and appetizing, with whole leaves of salad that provide a sense of satisfaction when torn and mixed! ▫️ The beef tartare is definitely in London's TOP 3 🔝 ▫️ Dressed Portland salad, a summer specialty Sweet and fresh with trout and apples, fresh, sweet, not greasy, and appetizing! ▫️ The main course of fish with lobster claws is my favorite, the fish is textbook tender, and the buttery potatoes on the plate are so fragrant I want to wipe the plate clean with bread! 🥰 Desserts are all French in technique with British names/British desserts with a French twist, quite charming indeed! 🍓 The classic Eton Mess is presented as a small cake mousse, not too sweet or greasy, with vanilla fragrance & sweet strawberries, love it! 🫶 Although it's billed as British cuisine, there's a shadow of French dining everywhere (after all, fine dining British cuisine is indeed influenced by French cuisine). Can't wait to go back and try more dishes! The ground floor is a pub, which seems to be frequented by private equity & investment people on weekdays, and old money upstairs for Brunch on weekends—I'm a bit envious of their relaxed brunch demeanor. #LondonLife #LondonFoodie #HiddenGemRestaurants #Local Restaurant
