Ma Chef

I believe many friends love Korean food. Among the numerous Korean restaurants in the city, Ma Chef is definitely one you must try. 🍢 The restaurant is clean and tidy, and the Korean uncle owner is super warm—he even remembered our favorite side dishes after the second visit! 🥰 For the grilled meat, they thoughtfully prepare scissors ✂️ to snip the meat into bite-sized pieces, so you don’t have to struggle with a knife. The marinated galbi (short ribs) are a standout—tender, sweet, and slightly smoky from the grill, with that perfect char on the edges 🔥. The tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) are also really authentic! 🪄 Chewy rice cakes swimming in a thick, gochujang-based sauce that’s spicy, sweet, and slightly savory. They toss in fish cakes and boiled eggs for extra flavor—every bite is a party in your mouth 🌶️. Besides that, Little Panda wants to tell you about their hidden menu— the fried fish from the Special menu! It’s the first time I’ve had such crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside fried fish in the city. 🐟 The batter is light and crispy, not greasy at all, and eating it with Chinese broccoli, spinach, and shredded green onions makes it even more delicious. Dip a piece in the tangy soy-vinegar sauce on the side? Chef’s kiss 👩🍳💋 Don’t sleep on the banchan (side dishes) either! 🥢 They bring out a huge spread: kimchi that’s spicy and fermented to perfection, pickled radishes with a zesty kick, and creamy potato salad with a hint of sesame oil. You can ask for refills—no extra charge! 🥳 Their kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) is another must-order. 🍲 Bubbling hot, packed with tender pork belly, tofu, and fermented kimchi, it’s hearty enough to share but so good you might want to keep it to yourself. Pair it with a bowl of steamed rice, and you’ve got the ultimate comfort meal 🍚. For drinks, try their makgeolli (rice wine)—creamy, slightly sweet, and super refreshing with grilled meat. 🍶 If you prefer something non-alcoholic, the yuzu tea is sweet-tart and perfect for balancing the spiciness of the tteokbokki. average$40-60 📍 5818 111 St NW Edmonton AB T6H 3G1 Canada #Edmonton#Edmontoncuisine
