Machine Shop | The Best Pastries in Philadelphia, No Exceptions
Their laminated dough is just exceptional, and both the sweet and savory pastries are outstanding. Apart from its slightly inconvenient location—which means you should go early, or you might find everything sold out—I can't find any flaws in this place. 🌟 My Must-Orders: Miso Mushroom Danish and Caracara Orange Croissant (still on the menu! And still weekend-only!) 🥐 Other Must-Tries: Jammy Egg Danish, Canelé, Croissant, Kouign Amann... (basically everything else on the viennoiserie menu is amazing) (the cakes & tarts are also very good) The Jammy Egg Danish is a must-mention for any discussion about this bakery. It's a runny-egg Danish pastry that almost everyone recommends, and I love it too. However, the stew beneath the egg might not be to everyone's taste, which is why I didn't put it at the top of my list. I'm also a big fan of their mascarpone tart series. The mascarpone cream on top is perfectly sweet. In the photo, it's the blood orange Marcona version. 🍞 As for the bread (or any loaf), it's not necessary to buy here. There are better options for bread in Philadelphia. The newly added Rhubarb Danish in April has successfully made it into my top 1 favorite pastries. I really like desserts with rhubarb, and I hope this one stays on the menu for a long time. #PhiladelphiaFood #PhiladelphiaDesserts #Philadelphia #PhiladelphiaRestaurantHunting
