Madrid | Catedral de la Almudena
Here comes the 3rd highlight of Madrid’s attractions/museums! 🌟 This cathedral is officially known as Catedral de Santa María la Real de la Almudena, located right across from the Royal Palace of Madrid, making it a pretty iconic landmark. 🏰 The cathedral itself is free to visit, but if you want to see the church’s museum, student tickets are 5€ per person. 🎟️ The cathedral is grand and solemn. It’s not as intricate in architectural style and structure as some of the more famous ones I’ve seen in other European countries, but I sat inside for about 20 minutes, and I rarely feel such tranquility and comfort in a church. I think the decoration of the whole church and the sparse crowd each account for 50%. 🕊️ Highlight: You must buy the museum ticket. To be honest, compared to many other Catholic church museums, this one isn’t particularly outstanding, but the exhibits are all beautiful (no photos allowed). Especially the Pope’s robes and staff, etc., but there aren’t many exhibits, and the explanations aren’t sufficient. 🖼️ BUT BUT!!! This museum allows you to climb to the top of the church to overlook Madrid. Before climbing the church tower, I already liked Madrid, but after I climbed up, I was instantly smitten. As a data-strapped newbie, I went crazy and sent my mom numerous 15-second videos of the stunning Madrid. The last photo of this post was praised by my good friend from HK as wallpaper-worthy. 📸 Overlooking Madrid, it’s not a grand and magnificent beauty, nor a quaint and elegant charm. It’s a blend of the city’s topography, historical depth, lush green trees, distant mountains, blue skies and white clouds, and the city’s passion and development. It’s a shocking yet comfortable beauty. We were very lucky; this was the only sunny day of our trip to Madrid, and I encountered the most beautiful Madrid at the best time and place. 🌄 Wishing everyone a safe and pleasant journey, take care of your health, and be mindful of theft. 🧳 #Madrid #MadridTravel
