Magical Outdoor Piano Concerts Transform Some Of The Bayβs Most Stunning Gardens This Week

Enjoy a magical program of classical music via a magnificent 9-foot Steinway grand piano from 1912, which has traveled for this purpose to dozens of parks, farms, and rural green spaces around the Western US. **Experience *In A Landscape* this week at the following local gardens:** * Tuesday, May 20 β Filoli Historic House & Garden in Woodside * Wednesday, May 21 β SF Botanical Garden in San Francisco * Friday-Saturday, May 23-24 β Jack London State Historic Park in Glen Ellen To maintain high sound quality and address the acoustical difficulties of outdoor settings, the concert is broadcast through wireless headphones provided to attendees. This setup encourages guests to freely roam the natural surroundings instead of staying in fixed seats, and many arrive with lawn chairs or picnic blankets to relax and take in the view. *In a Landscape* invites people to use the music as a way to connect with both nature and those around them, creating a serene and interactive concert experience. Pianist Hunter Noack launched *In a Landscape* in 2016, drawing inspiration from the Federal Music and Theatre Projects of the WPA during the Great Depression. Now operating as a nonprofit, the series has hosted more than 300 concerts for 75,000 attendees across states including Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, New York, Utah, Wyoming, and California. The performances often feature guest collaborators like poets, visual artists, dancers, and fellow musicians.
