Maine's Favorite Bakery π₯π₯―ππ₯
πThe Standard Baking Co. I stopped by to buy some pastries before leaving Portland. This bakery collaborates with many restaurants, like Street & Co. (It was actually at Street & Co. that I first tried and fell in love with their Rustica! This restaurant is absolutely delicious too β highly recommend it!) Prosciutto & Asiago Croissant π₯ It has such a lovely braided shape! This golden, crispy croissant is filled with savory prosciutto and cheese. The milky aroma wraps around the rich, fresh flavors β how could it not taste amazing? Asiago Fougasse π§ The bread has a nice chewy texture, and the Asiago cheese gives it a strong, salty aroma. However, the surface is a bit too oily. Plum Frangipane Tart π₯§ The crispy tart base is filled with moist almond cream, topped with sweet-tart plum slices, creating rich layers of flavor. The almond flavor is extremely intense β it might have been made with almond extract. Note: The top fruit changes with the seasons! Chocolate Cork π«βοΈ This is a chocolate cake soaked in coffee liquid, with cocoa beans scattered throughout. It has an incredibly soft and moist texture that melts in your mouth instantly, releasing a rich, bittersweet taste. Later, I bought their Rustica π₯ many times. Itβs springy, soft, and flexible β truly the "bread of my dreams"! Itβs perfect for making sandwiches. If you love high-moisture bread, you definitely have to try it! I also tried their Chocolate Pecan Financier π§±. While itβs on the sweeter side (best paired with black coffee), the moistness of the cake and the caramelized crust are done perfectly. Life is already tough enough β sometimes we just need a little sweetness, right? #CarbLoversUnite #SmallBitesCityShowdown #PortlandBites #PortlandMaine #EatDrinkPortlandMaine #BreadEnthusiast
